Friday 17th of June, the Secret Project Festival kicked off on the sandy beaches of Praia da Rocha, which extended until Sunday.
It is an event composed of a series of concerts and performances by artists from the areas of house, techno, drum & bass and disco, which was a great start to the summer shows in the municipality of Portimão.
It then follows, from the 1st to the 3rd of July, Afro Nation Portimão, also in the same space, as the Rolling Loud Portugal Hip-Hop Festival, which will take place from the 6th to 8th of July.
The traditional Sardine Festival, which combines gastronomy with music, will take place this year from the 3rd to 7th of August, in the riverside (Ribeirinha) area of the city. João Leote, Marisa Liz, David Fonseca, Bárbara Tinoco, Wet Bed Gang and David Carreira guarantee musical animation.
There are many other events that will take place in the county in the coming months. The Marches of the Popular Saints, the Humor.PT – Portimão Comedy Festival and the International Master Futsal are some of them.
Below is the list of the dates which are, at this time, already confirmed:
June 24th, Friday, 10:00 pm: Parade of Popular Marches, in the Riverside Zone of Alvor.
June 25th, Saturday, 10:00 pm: Parade of Popular Marches, in Praia da Rocha, from The Viewpoint to Fortaleza Santa Catarina, by Avenida Tomás Cabreira.
July 1st-3rd, Friday to Sunday: Afro Nation Portugal (Praia da Rocha). After two cancelled editions due to the pandemic, this event is filled with Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, dancehall, amapiano and afrohouse sounds is back.
July 6th-8th, Wednesday to Friday: Rolling Loud Portugal Hip-Hop Festival (Praia da Rocha).
July 9th, Saturday, 22h00: Pedro Jóia Trio Concert at the Municipal Theater of Portimão (TEMPO).
July 21st-24th, Thursday to Sunday: Lota Cool Market, Portimão (Ribeirinha). The Cool Market is a Market for New Crafts, Design & Gourmet Products. The participants are national creatives, with small brands of products with originality, invited to promote their project in what aims to be a reference platform to the south of the country in the dissemination of new projects to the public. The exhibition and sale of products is accompanied by a cultural animation program in the same space.
August 3rd-7th, Wednesday to Sunday: Sardine Festival, Portimão (Ribeirinha). This year, the song is on behest João Leote and Marisa Liz (03/08); David Fonseca (04/08); Barbara Tinoco (05/08), Wet Bed Gang (06/08) and David Carreira (07/08).
August 12th-27th: 2nd edition of Humor.pt – Portimão Comedy Festival (Fridays and Saturdays, from 9 pm, at the Teatro Municipal de Portimão).
August 19th-21st, Friday to Sunday: Arrebita Portugal gastronomy festival (Portimão – old town). The event features good snacks produced by renowned names from the national gastronomic scene and young talents on the rise.
August 25th-28th, Thursday to Sunday: Algarve In A Glass, an event dedicated to wine and other drinks in the region.
August 27th and 28th, Saturday and Sunday: International Master Futsal. The competition brings together four of the best national and international teams in the sport.
September 9th-11th, Friday through Sunday: Percussion music.
September 14th to October 16th: Snack Route (Rotas do Petisco). The snackers are once again invited to browse all the restaurants and pastries that participate in the route in search of the best snacks of this edition.
