The government created the AUTOvoucher last year in response to rising fuel prices, with the goal of returning taxpayers a maximum of 25€ in five months (5€ per month) for fuel-related spending.
In the face of the current increases, the government is reacting in a spectacular way, by returning 20€ in March!
In order to benefit from this, the taxpayer must register on the AUTOvoucherplatform (if you have already registered with IVAucher, you do not need to register again) and accumulate a value of 20€ by the end of March, which will apply to any type of purchase at a participating fuel station, not just fuel consumption (see below).
AUTOvoucher works on the basis of expenditure at participating petrol stations, despite the fact that it was supposed to mitigate the increase in fuel prices (products such as tobacco, books, drinks, food, etc.).
As a result, you can purchase any item at the petrol station and still be eligible for a refund.
How will you receive the 20€?
The 20€ that the government will reimburse you for the petrol station consumption will be added to your bank account as soon as the first purchase is made, even if it is only one liter.
You do not need to re-register for AUTOvoucher if you are already enrolled in IVAucher; simply provide your taxpayer number (contribuinte).
In fact, for the process to be approved, you do not even need a taxpayer number; simply pay with the ATM card associated with your bank account on the finance site (Portal das Finanças). The process is completely automated, and the money is credited to your account up to 72 hours.

In essence, simply register for AUTOvoucher on the government website/platform, pay with your ATM card associated with your taxpayer number at any participating petrol stations, and you will receive 20€ in March which may take up to 72 hours.
